Welcome
‘Empowering children to be secure, engaged and equipped for life.’
The Villages’ Multi-Academy Trust is a well-established two school trust in the heart of Worcestershire. Our Trust is comprised of two large primary schools, both judged to be good in their most recent inspections.
Implicit in the vision of The Villages Trust are core principles which govern the way each school operates and underpins decision making against which we measure ourselves:
- The needs of children are the highest priority – excellent outcomes for children are the raison d’etre of our schools
- Each school is best placed to make the right decisions for the children in that school
- Effective collaboration between schools can have a significantly positive impact and contribute to raising standards
- Honest, open, and transparent relationships between all stakeholders in schools – Members, Trustees, Governors, senior leaders, staff, children and parents – underpin effective collaboration. Positive, active partnerships are fundamental to sustained success
Our Trust is a school-led business where the needs of children and their families drives our approach.
Beyond our aim to empower children to be secure, engaged and equipped for life, we also endeavour for our schools and staff to be secure, engaged and equipped for life…
Children that are secure, engaged and equipped for life
We live in a rapidly changing, and increasingly uncertain world. It is said that 65% children who are currently in the primary years of their education will be employed in jobs that don’t even exist yet, using technology that has yet to be conceived in, changing not only jobs but careers multiple times in their working lives.
To prepare children for such a future, it is essential to equip them with the skills, knowledge and attributes that will enable them to be successful in the next stage of their education and beyond.
At the Villages’ Trust we believe empowering children with the three strands of being secure, engaged and equipped for life is the best way to prepare them for their future.
Staff that are secure, engaged and equipped for life
To be successful in pour aspiration to ensure children have the best possible start in life, it is crucial that we recruit, train and retain the very best staff.
At the Villages’ Trust we believe that empowering our people to be secure, engaged and equipped for life is fundamental to the success of our schools. We work with our staff to ensure they are:
- Valued, with high self-esteem and a good sense of self-worth
- Reflective
- Committed to life-long learning and supported through effective, tailored CPD
- Confident and sufficiently skilled to fulfil their role.
- Supported to be fit and healthy, mentally as well as physically
- Helped and encouraged to achieve their career aspirations
Schools that are secure, engaged and equipped for life
Creating and maintaining positive, encouraging, and enabling learning environments is central to the approach of the Villages’ Multi-Academy Trust. Working closely with our CEO and Trust Board, our business team is fully focused on ensuring that our schools-led business thrives now and is sustainable for the longer term.
Through targeted budgeting, careful analysis of income and expenditure and innovative income generating activity, we ensure that each of our schools has the people, the resources and the accommodation to provide every child with the best education.
“Pupils enjoy attending Lyppard Grange Primary School. They are respectful, perceptive and articulate. Pupils benefit from the school’s balanced curriculum and enjoy work that makes them think.” Ofsted 2022.
“Leaders, governors and trustees have high expectations of staff and pupils at Nunnery Wood Primary School. Leaders have introduced changes across the school that have improved the quality of education. Leaders do not rest on their laurels. They are working effectively to improve different aspects of the school, including the curriculum, even further.” Ofsted 2022.
Local schools serving local children and local communities
Just like every parent, each teacher and every school want all children to have the very best school experience and to enjoy success. Central to this is knowing children well as individuals, knowing how they are progressing in their learning and knowing what the next steps in their learning journey are.
This means individual teachers, subject leaders and leaders are best placed to determine the curriculum for their school. This reflects the Villages’ Trust approach to curriculum planning and is the antithesis of a "one size fits all" teaching approach, which is flawed because it assumes all students learn in the same ways.
We believe that local schools, led by effective headteachers, with great teaching teams, are best placed to know and meet the needs of the children in their school through a well-designed, engaging, relevant and meaningful curriculum.
